When it comes to a physical fitness program, no one can beat the
schedule that Angel Barbieri of Legacy of Leesburg follows every week.
Her day begins with aerobics every morning at 7 AM, and her other
activities vary each day. She plays pickleball with the men's group
three days a week, and also with the women's group three days a week.
She bowls on Tuesday mornings with the Highland Lakes league, and enjoys
bocce on Thursday mornings. Wednesday is filled in with line dancing in
the afternoon, and when there is remaining time to fill in, she likes
gardening, crocheting for the Boggy Creek Camp nearby, and reading. On
occasion, Angel serves as a volunteer driver for the American Cancer
Society, driving and waiting for patients when they require
transportation to and from the hospital or doctor's office.
Angel was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she met
and married her first husband in 1959. They moved to Mayport, Florida,
when her husband was stationed there in the Navy, but they eventually
returned to Philadelphia. Another change brought them to the Orlando
area, but her husband passed away in 1984. Angel stayed in Orlando for
the next ten years, but eventually returned to Philadelphia, where she
married her second husband in 1996. Three years later, they discovered
Legacy and decided to move back to Florida. When her second husband
passed away in 2002, she decided to stay in Legacy and enjoy the many
activities available within the community.
During the years that Angel lived in Philadelphia, she worked for the
Manpower Agency for a few years, then was employed by the Jade Tool and
Die Company for about ten years in the accounting and payroll
department. While living in Orlando, she used her computer experience as
an employee for UPS, mainly in the payroll department.
Angel is the mother of four children - Robert, who is a Manager for
Timco (a company that refurbishes airplanes) in Greensboro, North
Carolina; Vincent, who works for AT&T Wireless in Powell, Ohio; Jean
Marie, a housewife in Greenbay, Wisconsin; and Nick, a stockbroker in
Medford, New Jersey. Angel is also the proud grandmother of ten
grandchildren, and she makes every effort to visit all of them for
special occasions whenever possible.
Angel became familiar with Central Florida while she was living in
Orlando, and visited the Leesburg and Mt. Dora area on many occasions.
She and her second husband became attracted to the design of Legacy of
Leesburg and they were fortunate enough to purchase one of the model
homes along with many of the furnishings that were already in the model.
If you ask her what she likes most about the community, Angel will tell
you "it is a good community for singles, since she feels very safe and
comfortable as a resident of Legacy." She enjoys the friendliness of the
people and the fact that the community's grounds are well maintained by
Pringle Development. There is adequate shopping less than a mile away,
and this area of Central Florida is still close enough to the
attractions and the airport in Orlando. Several of her neighbors, both
couples and singles, have made her feel right at home.
