One of the newer additions to the dining facilities in the area is
O'Brians Restaurant & Pub, which opened near the end of last year on
Route 27 in Leesburg. It has a pleasant, spacious dining area on two
sides, with a large U-shaped bar in the center. Wooden booths provide an
element of privacy for diners, but allow patrons to observe several TVs
located at ceiling level.
Brian Kenney, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New
York, is both part-owner and chef. He has over 20 years of food service
experience, having previously been in charge of the Hotel and Restaurant
Division of the Isle of Capri's casinos nation-wide. He also managed
eight fine dining restaurants in Texas and Colorado for another firm,
and worked as a chef in a local restaurant. His parents have resided in
one of the Pringle communities since 1993.
According to Brian's wife and part owner, Sara, their aim was "to bring
good quality, homemade food to the area." All of their food items are
home-cooked and hand-breaded Ð nothing has been frozen.
O'Brians offers a full-service menu for lunch and dinner as well as
daily specials. There is a kid's menu, some senior menu items and a full
bar service for draft beer, wine and liquor. Monday is all day "happy
hour" with 2 for 1 beverages. This is also the day they feature "all you
can eat wings" at dinner for $9.99. On Tuesdays, kids can eat for 99
cents and on Wednesday, they offer all you can eat beer-battered fish
with cole slaw and fries for $8.99. Thursday is Irish Dinner Night,
featuring ethnic items such as Shepherd's Pie, Reuben Casserole, or
corned beef and cabbage. Eight, twelve or sixteen oz. Prime Ribs are the
special for Friday and Saturday nights, as well as all day Sunday. The
various cuts range from $10.99 to $15.99. Bread and a choice of two
salads accompany this meal.
Taco salad was the lunch special on the day we dined at O'Brians. We
opted for the onion soup, which was full of flavor and not too salty. I
also chose a Cobb Salad with fresh grilled chicken for $6.99, while my
spouse decided on the Charbroiled Chicken with barbecue sauce, bacon and
cheese for $8.99. The meal came with a side of either fries or onion
rings, which we both enjoyed.
O'Brians has a wide variety of meal options, from home-made soups,
salads, sandwiches, pasta entrees, pork chops, salmon, beef and chicken
dishes Ð all reasonably priced. Desserts include carrot cake, coconut
bread pudding, fried strawberries, cake and pie, as well as a sugar-free
apple pie. All are homemade.
Whenever we passed by the restaurant in the past, the parking lot was
always full during meal hours, and this weekday's visit was no
exception. It is apparent that the local community has added O'Brians to
their list of favorite restaurants!
