It’s always nice to see a new “non-chain” restaurant join the neighborhood. A recent addition to the Clermont area is Café Boquete, located on Citrus Tower Boulevard near Route 50.
A friend recommended this new up-scale café specializing in coffees from around the world. Their coffee is served either hot or over ice and for you tea lovers, an assortment of Harney and Sons Gourmet Teas are available. What makes the décor of the Café a little different is that each booth has a “theme” table top, dedicated to a coffee producing country such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama (where the name “Bouquete” originated), Hawaii and some African nations as well.
This family-owned café decided to incorporate a restaurant with their coffee shop. On a recent lunch visit, my wife and I chose a cup of tomato basil bisque soup and one of the specials of the day, broccoli and ham quiche. The freshly-made individual serving was accompanied by a parfait of fresh diced fruit and we added homemade pecan gelato and fried ice cream as our desserts...delicious!
Other menu items included a citrus tower salad of mixed greens, ruby red grapefruit, tangerines, blueberries, soft ripened bleu cheese, candied almonds, with honey drizzle in a citrus vinaigrette. There are also paninis, hot pressed sandwiches, burgers, regular sandwiches and flatbread pizzas.
The dinner items are ala carte beginning with appetizer selections of roasted beet and goat cheese salad, grilled vegetable antipasti or pumpkin ravioli; a step above the usual appetizer offerings. The grilled chicken po boy is one of the lighter menu options available. Red snapper, tagliatelle pasta, a half roasted duck, 7 oz. petite filet, fresh seafood selections and vegetarian dishes are also available on the dinner menu.
Café Boquete has been serving the Clermont area since June 2006, and they hope to open other Cafés in the future. (Clermont is the community just south of Leesburg.)
