The Lakes of Mount Dora Island Clubhouse

The Lakes of Mount Dora was designed from the start as the ultimate destination for baby boomers. From the 275 acre waterway system, to the luxuriously appointed homes, this community is set to impress. The next chapter in this spectacular community is coming to a close with the Grand Opening of the Island Clubhouse scheduled for the spring of 2008.

The Island Clubhouse is an 18,000 SqFt complex sitting on an island to itself. Nearly 70% of the community is connected to the waterway system with residents able to canoe or kayak their way to the planned dock on the island. A land bridge connects the facility to the mainland for vehicle traffic.

PAGODA FLOWERS

It all started a few years ago when I noticed beautiful red flowers on several tall plants in my neighbor’s yard. She allowed me to transplant a few of them and, ever since, dozens of these plants have grown and developed in my own garden.

The pagoda flower is an erect, open, semi-woody shrub with large evergreen leaves and large showy clusters of orange-red or scarlet flowers held above the foliage. The stems grow to 3-5 ft and they spread 2-3 feet apart, with tropical leaves as wide as 12 inches across. The flowers within the pyramid shaped cluster are tiered, like a Japanese pagoda, and the flower display lasts from summer through autumn.

HOT AIR BALLOONING

“Wouldn’t you like to ride in my beautiful, beautiful, balloon?”

That line from a popular song can be applied to an adventure that is available to Central Florida residents and visitors.

Rohr Balloons provides daily flights over the lakes and orange groves that make up much of Lake County. Since 1978, this company, based in Mount Dora, is one of the most experienced and diversified hot air balloon teams in the country, and every Rohr pilot holds an FAA commercial instructor license. They offer sunrise and sunset one-hour flights, weather permitting, and the balloons can reach heights of 3,000 feet or more.

Amtrak Auto Train

When we moved to Florida from up north, our children had moved on with their lives and we were able to make the move. Over the years, our sons had a total of six children, so the desire to return to our hometown became stronger.

We enjoy the lifestyle that comes with living in Central Florida, but still enjoy visiting the grandchildren as often as we can. To do this, there are several options offered to those who find it difficult to move away from family.

The Enclave at Legacy of Leesburg

Legacy of Leesburg is already well established as a “Nature” community, with miles of nature trails, the Palatlakaha River Park, acres of majestic oaks and unspoiled wetlands. At Pringle we strive to deliver the very best home to our customers and for the environment. That is why we are utilizing the very latest in “green” technology in creating The Enclave at Legacy of Leesburg.

The land The Enclave sits on was not always as protected and cared for as it is now. Over 80 years ago this land was mistreated and spoiled. But, we took it upon ourselves to spend the money to completely reform the land to its natural state. Why…because our founders always told us to, “do the right thing”. This guiding principle has enabled Pringle Development to become a leader not only in the building industry, but in the community itself.

LOCALLY FILMED MOVIES

Did you know that “Hollywood” came to Mount Dora?.

In 1980, scenes for the movie Honky Tonk Freeway were filmed in downtown Mount Dora. The entire downtown was painted pink and 2,000 local townspeople were signed on as extras. Bubbles the elephant water-skied in Lake Dora and a rhinoceros was used as part of the scene. (Can you imagine the town painted PINK today?)
