Pick-Your-Own Fruit, Farm Animals, and a Big Ol’ Swamp Buggy Ride -
All Point Toward a Fun Day In The Sun!
Picking your own fresh fruit has always been
a great outdoor activity. Picking apples and straw-berries offers us all
an opportunity to get out and enjoy a little fresh air and sunshine.
It’s especially fun when children are included.
Since Florida has an abundance of oranges
and grapefruit, there are plenty of places where you can “Pick-Your-Own”
citrus. And with so many varieties available, something is in-season
through-out most of the year.
One of the largest groves that offer these
activities here in Central Florida is the “Showcase of Citrus Grove &
Ranch”. They are located in Clermont, which is on Route 27, just west of
Orlando.

Santiago's Mexican Restaurant
From
time to time, my spouse and I enjoy trying a variety of ethnic meals at
local restaurants. This time we decided to try the “new kid on the
block”; Santiago’s Mexican Restaurant and Gift Shop, which has been open
for just over one year.
Santiago’s is located in the base of the Citrus Tower, a very popular
Central Florida attraction in the nearby town of Clermont. After
taking-in a spectacular view of the surrounding areas rolling hills,
citrus groves and lakes, you can visit the gift shop and enjoy a very
pleasant lunch or dinner on the ground floor of the Tower.

State Clubs: A Fun Way To Meet and Socialize With Folks From Your Old
Stomping Grounds!
“Where
are you from?”, is a question that is frequently asked when strangers
meet in Florida. It’s a fairly common question here, because so many of
our residents come from different parts of the country.
The
same holds true within each of the Pringle communities. So, as a means
for connecting with our neighbors in Royal Highlands, some residents
have formed what are now called “Home State Clubs”. It’s a fun way to
meet and socialize with people from the areas in which they used to
live.

For
Some Residents, Soaking-Up the Sun Has Become An Art!
Finding Rochelle Moore of Royal Highlands is usually pretty easy. She
loves the sun and she loves to exercise. So, as a “Sun Worshipper”, you
will often find her near the swimming pool, either reading or “soaking
up the rays”. In fact, she’s found a way to participate in three hobbies
all at the same time! She exercises by “pool-walking” in the outdoor
pool, while reading her favorite book and improving on her tan. Talk
about multi-tasking!
Rochelle is a native of Chicago, Illinois, but came to Florida after
living in Raleigh, NC for a number of years. She began working for the
Black and Decker Company in Chicago, and was eventually promoted to the
position of Supervisor of Physical Distribution for them in Raleigh.
Before retiring, she completed a total of 26 years of service with Black
and Decker.
