For Paul and Kathy Lautenschlegar, becoming
a resident of Royal Harbor "exceeded our expectations." They moved into
their new home in June of 2002 and immediately found the residents to be
warm and cordial.
Paul and Kathy became familiar with Florida
after spending winters on both the east and the west coast, but were
unhappy with the heavy traffic. In their search for a retirement home,
they decided that Central Florida was the area to check out. A Pringle
ad in the Where to Retire magazine introduced them to the benefits of a
Pringle home, and they are very happy to have joined the Royal Harbor
community.
Paul was born in Akron, and Kathy was born
in Tiffin, Ohio. They began their married life in Akron, but moved
throughout the country while Paul was in the Air Force. Paul spent 32
years with Goodyear Tire, where he retired as manager of Logistics and
Product Supply. Kathy worked as a Lab Tech for Pedco Environmental, then
served as an Industrial Hygienist for Cincinnati Milacron, GE Aircraft
Business Group, and as a chemist for Armco Steel. She then completed 10
years with the EPA as manager of their Industrial Hygiene Facility.
They have three children Ð Brent, VP of the
Health Corp. of America in Nashville; Cinda, an Engineer for the State
of Connecticut; and Paula, a Lab Tech for Cincinnati Electronics. Paul
and Kathy also have two grandsons.
Paul enjoys tennis, yoga, kayaking,
gardening, painting, and woodworking, and he can be seen occasionally
walking or biking around the community. He is a member of the Music
Lovers Society, a group of 100 that plans the many dances, concerts and
other musical activities that take place each month. Kathy serves as a
substitute teacher in yoga, enjoys reading and walking, and is a member
of the Red Hat Society and the Royal Harbor Women's Club. Both Kathy and
Paul also teach Ballroom Dancing.
When Paul and Kathy chose to build the
Hilton Head model, they were able to make several changes to the
original plans, such as adding a "bonus room" upstairs and enlarging the
master bedroom. They enjoy the gentle hills of the area, as well as the
size and location of Royal Harbor. They can see Lake Harris from their
lanai and are pleased that the lakes are interconnected, which is
similar to the lakes Paul experienced while living in Akron.
