 Follow the crowd! That was our lunch experience recently at Lil Anthony's New York Style Pizza Restaurant. Opened about a year ago, we always noticed the parking lot was full during lunch and supper hours...surely an indication of a successful dining establishment.
Located on Highway 27 in nearby Minneola, partners Marina, a New Yorker, and Kellie, who comes from the south, decided on a New York City theme for their restaurant. There are posters, a subway map, and assorted miniature cars throughout the building, which seats 75Ð80. The tables themselves are unique, as they are boxed in with various memorabilia and a clear Plexiglas top for viewing. License plate-type signs name the theme of each table, such as "N.Y. Taxi" or "Grand Central Station."
For lunch, I ordered Eggplant Parmigiana served with a fresh salad, a garlic roll and spaghetti for $9.99. My spouse selected a similar entree with veal. All recipes are made fresh daily with the finest ingredients, including bottled water for their dough. It has recently been rated as central Florida's #1 pizza place.
Although Lil Anthony's features various pizza choices (one named for each borough of New York City), as well as gourmet and Sicilian pizzas, they offer a full menu of soup, buffalo wings, salad and pasta dishes. Pizzas range in price from $7.99 for a small, up to $30 for an 18-inch stuffed Gourmet Pizza. They also serve hot and cold sandwiches, Calzone, Stromboli and desserts. A kid's menu offers smaller portions for those 10 and under. Domestic and imported beer, wine, tea, soft drinks, Espresso and Lattes complete the meal.
Lil Anthony's prepares specials on certain occasions, as well as seafood items. For example, on Valentine's Day, they offered a four-course gourmet meal including wine and beer for $55.95 per couple.
The restaurant is open daily from 11 AMÐ10 PM, and until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. They also prepare take-out meals and have a complete catering service for special events.
For former New Yorkers, Lil Anthony's offers fond memories of the "city that never sleeps." A tour of each of the tables in the restaurant brings back a different memory of the "Big Apple."
