As new residents move into a community, there is a need for an increase in the number of clubs offering a greater diversity of activities.
One of the newest clubs that is forming at Royal Harbor is the Overseas Club. This club consists of Royal Harbor residents that were born in different countries from around the world. It is intended to attract residents who speak a foreign language, American born residents who have lived overseas, or any other resident who is interested in sharing cultural differences as well as cross cultural experiences. By meeting together, an opportunity is provided to meet and interact with others and to learn more about their culture.
Laura Martin and Janet Barlow are now in the process of attracting other residents interested in joining the Overseas Club. They are hoping to gather enough people who would enjoy meeting in small groups and willing to work together to sponsor at least one major community event each year. By doing so, club members will be able to relate to other cultures by interacting with those who are very familiar with foreign ways of life. This may lead to an interest in traveling to foreign countries to fully appreciate and understand different cultures.
