Ladies Billiard/Pool Club Is “Rackin’ Em Up” At Royal Highlands!
“Absolutely the most fun you can have for a
buck!” That’s the motto of the Royal Highlands Sharkettes. They’re not
Great Whites, and they’re not Makos, they’re Pool Sharkettes - and
they’re all members of the Ladies Billiard/Pool Club that meets every
Monday afternoon in the Billiard Room at the Recreation Center.
The Club was formed about 18 months ago when
Gary Zogg and Harold Gordon, members of the Men’s Billiard Club, and
former teachers, offered to help the ladies form their own group. They
volunteer their services every Monday to help the ladies develop their
skills at the four billiard tables that are located in the Rec Center.

Surfing In Northern Illinois Leads To Contentment In Central Florida
“Surfing the web” proved to be a worthwhile pastime for DeWayne and
Linda Rublee of Royal Harbor. While searching for the best builder to
construct their retirement home, they learned that Pringle Development
has completed, and is constructing several successful communities in
Central Florida. Their research also revealed that Pringle Development
was the most financially stable builder in the area.
As a
result, the Rublee’s eventually decided to build a Sanibel model home in
the Royal Harbor community. Like many other residents before them, they
made significant changes in the original floorplans to meet their
specific needs. They expanded the overall size of the home, added a
third bay to the garage, and modified the master bath.

A Fast
Ride Down Memory Lane
It was
November 28, 1895 when 6 cars lined up and started their engines for
what is believed to be the first USA auto race. The 54 mile course from
Chicago to Evanston, Illinois was covered in ten hours. The Duryea
brothers, with an average speed of 5 miles per hour, eventually crossed
the finish line first, to collect the top prize of $2000.
Auto
racing has come a long way since their early days, and you can learn
many other fascinating stories about racing when you visit Don Garlit’s
Museum of Drag Racing. It is located just off I-75 at Exit 341 in Ocala,
and it offers a look back at a large collection of drag racing vehicles,
classic cars, and racing memorabilia.

Molly
Malones Pub & Restaurant
Many of us are familiar with the “Song of Molly Malone” – who sold
“cockles and mussels, alive, alive o!” during the early part of the 19th
Century in Dublin. According to the legend of Molly Malone, who
apparently had quite a following in Ireland, this poem was neatly
engraved on her headstone:
Here Beneath This Cold, Hard Stone
Lies Lovely, Lifeless Molly Malone.
Cruelly Snatched From This Vale of Tears
At the Tender Age of Seventeen Years.
