For
Lee and Pat Black, Legacy of Leesburg's nature concept is what attracted
them to settle there. They saw that many of the features they enjoyed in
Michigan were also found in Central Florida, such as the gentle rolling
hills and lush vegetation, and the friendliness of the people. They also
liked that this area is close to Orlando's many attractions, and that
one can visit the beaches of the Atlantic coast or the Gulf of Mexico in
a relatively short amount of time.
Lee was born in Highland Park, while Pat was
born in Dearborn, both in Michigan. They met in Junior High, and later
settled in Wayne, Michigan, when they were married. Afterwards, they
resided in Maumee, Ohio, before moving to Legacy in January 2001.
Lee was an English teacher while living in
Wayne, and then served as Principal of Maumee High School for 25 years
before retiring in 1994. For the next four years, Lee owned a trophy and
awards business.
Pat was also employed in the field of
education, beginning as a Speech and Language Therapist, and serving as
an Elementary School Principal in Toledo for 17 years before retiring in
1999.
The Black's daughter, Meredith, is a Nursing
Home Assistant in Toledo, and the mother of three. Their son, Andrew, is
a project manager for an engineering firm in Virginia. He and his wife
have no children, but enjoy the company of several cats and dogs.
Lee
keeps himself busy as chairman of the Legacy Finance Committee. At home,
he likes to use the computer to explore photography and music. He
recently became interested in learning wine-tasting techniques, and will
be joining one of the wine-tasting clubs. Golf is Lee's sport of choice,
and he is a past member of the Sarabande Golf Club.
Pat serves as the "unofficial" head
librarian at the Legacy Library and is a member of the Photography Club
and Secretary of the Garden Club. She likes to ride bicycles with Lee
and walk with their dogs, Maggie and Possum, along the several miles of
Legacy's nature trails. Both attend frequent social events in the
community, and plan on joining the newly formed Geocaching group.
Lee and Pat first learned about Pringle
Development through an ad in AARP magazine, and obtained further
information at Pringle's website, www.Pringle.com. They have found that
living in Legacy is perfect for their needs. "Pringle is a quality
builder, and we are glad to be residents in a Pringle community," said
Lee. They enjoy living in an area where it is still "country-type"
living, and feel that they made the right decision in choosing Legacy of
Leesburg as their retirement home.
