Chef Jeffery Rotz, originally from New York (Brooklyn/Queens), found his way to Central Florida in 1994 and began working for Lake County Schools in 1996 teaching culinary arts. Previously, after retiring from the Navy in 1993, his first teaching assignment was at the St. Augustine Technical Center.Professional Awards:

- Finalist Culinary Educator of the Year for the Southeast
- Medallions for Community Service
- Lake County Teacher of the Year 2005-2006
The Chef and his wife Dee have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and he will be including those experiences in his column along with recipes and culinary and nutrition information.
