Cecile’s French Corner

Back to Articles

Dining “Al Fresco” is an enjoyable experience as long as the weather cooperates. One advantage of living in Florida is that this type of dining can be enjoyed most months of the year. On a beautiful ”first day of spring”, we enjoyed a visit to Cecile’s French Corner in downtown Mount Dora, where outdoor dining prevails. Most of their tables are located outside on a patio setting with either large umbrellas or built-in overhang with ceiling fans for protection and cooling. Various small trees and potted plants along a low brick wall give the impression of dining in a well-landscaped garden in France.

Cecile’s menu includes homemade crepes which are served in a rectangular shape, consisting of layers of crepe with a variety of fillings. Some of the luncheon crepe fillings include chicken breast and mushrooms in a cream sauce, or Nova smoked salmon, sour cream and fresh chives. The dessert crepes vary with fruit and cream fillings or chocolate and hazelnut spread.

On our visit, we chose the Broccoli, Cheddar and Swiss crepes and a slice of their homemade Quiche Lorraine served with a salad...all delicious! Other luncheon selections are salad plates served with homemade vinaigrette, cheese platters served with a bread basket or sandwiches made with homemade bread. Also on the menu are appetizers, soups or hot Croissants with various fillings and a very popular Chocolate Fondue.

Owners Keith Hatcher and Vickie MacIsaac have many years of cooking experience in several states and the Caribbean. Their restaurant has been at 237 W. 4th Ave. for about 8 years and continues to attract a daily crowd.
