WHY LAKE COUNTY?

Back to Articles
There are plenty of reasons why so many people chose Lake County to build their retirement home.

  • There are more than 1400 lakes covering 202 square miles of the total 1162 square miles that make up Lake County, great for boating and fishing activities.

  • There are over 20 state, city and county parks providing many outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, nature walks, swimming, tennis, etc.

  • The elevation of Lake County ranges from 50 feet to 190 feet above sea level, attracting those who enjoy bicycling, hiking and golf. Golfers can choose from dozens of golf courses in the county.

  • The average temperature in the winter is 75 degrees Fahrenheit – a more acceptable temperature than experienced by our neighbors up north. Summer breezes that drift through the rolling hills on warmer days are plentiful.

  • The county’s central location provide easy access to the many attractions nearby, either on the east or west coast, or the many attractions in the Orlando area, such as Disney World, Universal, etc.

  • Every type of restaurant has arrived in Lake County, from fast food to gourmet dining, and new ones are opening their doors every month.

  • For retired residents, there are many paid or volunteer part-time opportunities in which experienced workers are in demand by theme parks, restaurants, hospitals, food banks and mentoring programs.

  • Musical and theatrical productions take place all year at the schools, churches, or theatres located throughout the county.

The best way to experience the benefits of Lake County is to spend some time staying in the area to explore these opportunities.
