For many years, the Hetus visited Central
Florida in their 38 foot RV when the weather in Michigan turned cold.
But like many “Snowbirds” before them, they ended the migrating when
they decided to make Florida their home.
Rene’ and Judy became familiar with Pringle
Development while visiting friends who already lived in the area. They
learned that if they built a home in a Pringle Development, they could
custom-design any model to their liking. They could even provide their
own set of plans to be built on a Pringle lot. Which is precisely what
they did, and they couldn’t be happier with the results.
Rene’ and Judy lived in two Detroit suburbs
(Livonia and Northville) prior to moving to Royal Highlands. Rene’ was
employed by the Ford Motor Company for 30 years as a full-scale model
maker, constructing prototype automobiles. He also completed 24 years of
military service as a member of the 70th Infantry Division Reserves. He
served on active duty active in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In his
spare time, he coached Little League football and baseball.
Judy owned and operated two liquor stores in
Michigan for 23 years, one of which offered a variety of specialty
wines.
The Hetus are the proud parents of six
children, four of whom still live in Michigan, one in Virginia and one
in Wisconsin. Their five daughters and one son work in careers ranging
from banking and real estate, to sales and education. They also have a
grand total of eleven grandchildren.
Now that Judy and Rene’ have settled into
Royal Highlands, they’ve become active in many community activities.
Judy formed the Michigan Club and served as its President for two years,
and she is presently the Queen Mum of the popular Red Hat Society, which
currently has about 270 Royal Highlands members. She was a member of the
Kitchen Band, and is now pursuing Swedish weaving, basket making and
one-stroke painting. Rene’ is the Chairman of the Royal Highlands Rules
and Regulations Committee, and is Treasurer of the Baseball Club. He
enjoys playing softball and occasionally plays golf. Judy and Rene’ take
part in progressive dinner parties, and they enjoy the Entertainment
series that takes place in the Community’s Great Hall.
The Hetus feel that Pringle Development is “not a cookie-cutter
developer”, and that when they “bought their home, they also got a
lifestyle”. They have found their neighbors to be very friendly, and
they are happy to have made so many new friends in the relatively short
time that they have lived in Royal Highlands. “There is a lot to do, and
you can participate in whatever activities you desire”, said Rene’.
