"first place" is your home, where you live and sleep, "second place" is
where you work, and "third place" is where you go to relax and enjoy
home-cooked meals and musical entertainment. Bill Ferree's "A Third
Place Pub & Cafe" opened in April of this year at 12 E. Magnolia Ave. in
Eustis.
The large, spacious restaurant is located in a historic building that
dates back to the early 1900s, when it was known as Ferran's Department
Store. The decor combines old brick, stucco and wood with an upstairs
loft and a separate bar area.
On our visit, we enjoyed some good old "Chicken n' Dumplins" made with
large pieces of chicken and vegetables in a thick broth. It was served
in a large covered bowl with homemade corn bread for $7.95. My spouse
chose the Roasted Chicken Salad served with slivered almonds, tomatoes,
cucumbers and carrots.

Third Place is open daily and serves breakfast from 7-10:45 AM. Lunch is
available from 11 AM-4 PM, when the dinner menu is in effect until
closing. On Sunday, only breakfast and lunch is served until 2 PM. The
breakfast menu includes favorites such as omelets and crepes, served
with coffee or juice for about $6. There is also homemade granola,
yogurt, and biscuits & gravy.
Luncheon offers soups and salads, fresh rolls, a fruit bowl, burgers and
a variety of hot sandwiches. Also available are fish and chips, gumbo,
or red beans and rice with sausage. Prices range from about $6 to $9.
For dinner, an 8 oz. filet mignon ($21.95) or slow-cooked pot roast with
vegetables ($9.95) might be your selection. Other choices that tempt the
appetite are grilled salmon with dill sauce or pan seared ahi tuna .
If
you have any room left, the dessert menu features molten chocolate cake,
apple dumplings or English trifles, to name a few.
Live Irish music is offered on the second Sunday of each month from
4:30-7 PM. On Fridays and Saturdays from 6-8 PM, various entertainers
perform folk, blues, rock and piano music.
"A Third Place" is a fun place to visit and enjoy a pleasant meal, good
service, some conversation and a little evening music to complete your
dining experience.
