Legacy of Leesburg

New Resident Orientation

A very popular song goes like this: “Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...”.

Helping new residents feel right “at home” in Legacy of Leesburg is an important function of the Welcoming Committee and William Bitters, the Activities Director. Each month, William and the committee meet with new residents.

As the residents arrive, they are given a packet of materials that includes a comprehensive list of the Legacy activities, a list of residents, and other helpful information. There is also an opportunity for attendees to sign up for any activities, as well as request name tags for use at the many social functions that take place.

Those Who've Come Before You...

Bob and Melinda Joy Miller

It took only one visit to Legacy of Leesburg before Bob and Melinda Joy Miller decided to become residents. After visiting friends in Legacy, they knew, “this is just what we are looking for”.

Bob and Melinda Joy are Pennsylvanians; Bob was born in Downingtown and Melinda Joy in Reading. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Bob and Melinda Joy lived in other areas of PA and VA before coming to Central Florida; coincidentally, they lived near Leesburg, VA, before moving to Leesburg, FL.

Dragon Boat Festival

It has been reported that there were several dragons seen moving across Lake Dora recently. The rhythmic beating of drums accompanied the sightings, and it appeared that there were several people riding these dragons.

Actually, it was the fourth annual Central Florida Dragon Boat Festival, sponsored this year by Florida Choice Bank, a two-day event which features dragon boat races, accompanied by a festival in Wooten Park, Tavares. The festival began on Friday evening, May 19, with opening ceremonies for the races and the symbolic awakening of the dragons.

Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano

A few years ago, we had the opportunity to taste a variety of Italian dishes when we visited various parts of Italy, including pizza in Naples, where pizza is said to have originated.

Now that we have tasted these dishes in the country of their origin, we can appreciate fine Italian food here in Central Florida. There are a number of fine restaurants that we feel measure up to “the real thing”...one of these local restaurants is Angelo’s Ristorante Italiano.

Activity Corner - NeighborLinks

One of the most unique and coveted amenities in the Pringle Communities is a community-exclusive intranet system called NeighborLinks. On NeighborLinks, one can view community notices, examine community documents, read and post to message boards, join clubs, sign-up for and post activities, keep abreast of daily events, and much more! Also included are: resident directories, voting and polling options, and both weekly and monthly eNewsletters.

Many future residents are able to begin enjoying this amenity even before work begins on their home. All lot-owners with a valid e-mail address are registered for the system shortly after the closing of their lot. This “head start” gives folks the ability to begin participating in community affairs, in many cases, a year or 2 out from actually moving into their new home

-William Bitters, Activity Director
