THE DORA CANAL: ITS EXPLORATION

Back to Articles

The Pringle family has been in the business of developing Active Adult communities in Lake County for over 100 years. We’re proud of our communities and how each one has it’s own unique amenities and theme.

We hope that over the course of a few months worth of our newsletters, we are able to give our readers an idea of just what the Florida Lifestyle in a Pringle Active Adult community is all about.

It’s not only the swimming pool and tennis courts but the experience of establishing a whole new and exciting timeline of things you have always wanted to do…activities you never even thought of doing, and doing all of them with people who are equally as excited about building new relationships and enjoying life.

Let’s take one of our communities, Legacy of Leesburg and show you how one couple from Wisconsin, Bob and Carolyn Russell, transitioned to the Florida lifestyle. First of all, Legacy promotes a lifestyle of nature and conservation…miles of nature trails, protected bird habitats and an unspoiled stretch of the Palatlakaha River within the community. A nature lovers paradise. “There are lots of golf communities but not many conservation communities.” according to the Russell’s.

Bob and Carolyn conducted a long and systemic search for their retirement haven, visiting both Active Adult and multi-generation communities. They ruled out the Carolinas being too close to the coast; Palm Springs, CA, but thought the summer heat would be too intense. They considered Nevada, but wanted more greenery and choices of things to do within driving distance. An ad about Legacy of Leesburg conservation and nature within the confines of the community caught there attention.

Since moving into their beautiful Legacy home, they have found that because most residents are retired, they never have trouble finding people with whom to socialize…inviting people over at 2 in the afternoon for coffee. The opportunity to interact with people is always there if you choose to do so. Leesburg is located close enough, and only 35 miles north of Orlando, to enjoy all the exciting parks and entertainment and then leave all the traffic and congestion behind when you head back home.

The commonality of starting a new life plus a whole gambit of activities (aerobic and water classes, all types of card games, outside activities like pickle ball and bocce ball…along with tennis and horseshoes, craft classes and drama club) to entertain, enlighten and make your days (and nights) as active as you wish. Even though Legacy is not a golfing community there are dozens of courses close by to choose from.

Check out Legacy’s activity schedule in this issue or their website at www.Legacy-of-Leesburg.com.
