The concept of an outdoor farmer’s market has become very popular in Central Florida, since several towns have added it to their weekly activities.
The latest addition is the Tuesday Farmer’s Market that is held near Wooten Park in downtown Tavares. The light breezes that come from Lake Dora provide a pleasant setting from 9 AM until 1 PM every week throughout the year.

At the present time, there are about two dozen vendors that offer a variety of items for sale – handmade soaps, jewelry, artwork, live plants, cutlery, British pies and other foods, as well as plenty of fresh produce. As time goes on, it is expected that more vendors will become a part of this weekly event. Manager Daryl Flournoy hopes to attract lunch crowds from the many offices located nearby. He chose Tuesdays because the market does not conflict with other local town markets, including Leesburg’s Saturday Market, Webster’s Monday Market, Clermont’s Sunday Market, and Eustis’s Thursday Market at the Lake County Fairgrounds. The schedule of these markets allows Central Florida residents to visit an outdoor Farmer’s Market almost any day of the week.
