Since
moving to Florida, we've noticed that a lot of folks in this area
absolutely love good barbeque. Native Floridians, as well as many of us
who moved here from up North, are always on the lookout for a great
Bar-B-Q place.
T-Bone's Bar-B-Q, located on Route 27 in Fruitland Park (just north of
Leesburg), is a local restaurant with a good reputation. Recently, the
Culinary Couple decided to have lunch at T- Bone's to see if its
popularity was justified. We both chose the "whacked" (chopped) pork
sandwich on a Kaiser roll, with a side selection. There was plenty of
meat! So much in fact, that I had to remove some of it in order to take
my first bite. The meat was very tender, and there were six homemade
varieties of barbeque sauce from which to choose. The sauces were
created by the owner to provide a variety of flavors; from sweet, to
mustard, to vinegar, sweet and sour, and spicy. Something to please the
varying taste buds of people from all parts of the country. Some folks
even like a layer of cole slaw on top of their barbeque; a regional
preference, according to Joshua, one of the mangers.

The week before our lunch visit, we had occasion to visit T-Bone's for
dinner. On that visit, we enjoyed an 11 oz. Filet Mignon for $21.95, and
their "Big Cut", 16 oz. Roast prime rib for $17.95. Both were excellent,
and came as complete dinners with salads, vegetables, potatoes, and most
importantly - "Doggie Bags"!
T-Bone's is a casual, rustic-looking restaurant with tile-topped tables.
All of their meats are all slow-cooked over smoldering wood up to 14
hours. They also offer a variety of soups, salads, burgers, chicken
fingers, sausage, ribs, pork chops, steaks, and sandwiches. A grilled
chicken club sandwich with bacon is $7.95, and a blackened grouper
sandwich is $6.95. Both are accompanied by a choice of sides.
There
is a children's menu, a take-out menu, and they will be happy to bring
their "Traveling Barbecue" which they refer to as "their culinary road
show", to groups for a picnic, wedding, fund-raiser, or just a "git
together" for a group of 50 or more people.
Joshua informed us that T-Bone's expects to open smaller, mostly
take-out stores in Eustis and Mt. Dora sometime in July, so they can
provide good barbecue to the folks in those areas.
T-Bone's is open daily from 11 am to 9 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays,
they remain open until 10 pm. Beer and wine, as well as a variety of
soft drinks, tea and coffee are all available.
