Those Who've Come Before You.:
Ron and Marva Turner

The active lifestyle that Royal Harbor residents enjoy can be well illustrated by the daily activities of Ron and Marva Turner.

Ron can be seen walking with a group of residents who “pick him up” as they pass by his home most mornings. Along with his regular walks, he enjoys spending time in Harbor’s fitness center and billiard room, gardening, and is getting into both golf and fishing.

For several years, Ron has also explored his artistic gift using oil, charcoal, pencil and other mediums and has proudly displayed many of his pieces throughout the Turner home.

Marva enjoys doing consulting work in the field of education and serves on the Board for the Lake County Children’s Services Council.

Marva is also very active in Royal Harbor’s Wisdom Seekers, in water aerobics and is a member of the library committee.

Both Ron and Marva provide volunteer services at the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando, in the choir and as facilitators for new members.

Ron was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was employed by the Detroit Police Department as an Officer and Sergeant for a total of 27 years. Marva was born in Paraiso, Panama, and she worked for Detroit Public Schools as a teacher for 22 years and an Assistant Principal and Principal for 9 years. Following that, she became a Principal for Farmington Public Schools, serving a total of almost 7 years before retiring in 2003.

Both Ron and Marva enjoy the many features of Royal Harbor, especially it’s location on Lake Harris, the friendliness of the community...all who have come together sharing unique interests, skills, and backgrounds, and the pleasant weather of Central Florida. The similarity in weather and close proximity to Panama are prime reasons for relocating to Central Florida.
