Pringle Development’s innovative community, Lakes of Mount Dora has been recognized for its green practices with a Florida-Friendly Community Award by the University of Florida/IFAS Florida Yards & Neighborhoods (FYN) program.
The awards are made based on community design and preservation measures, use of Florida-Friendly landscaping practices, water quality and conservation measures, maintenance, education and overall quality, effort and innovation.
Pringle requires its builders and landscapers to follow FYN guidelines. The community was noted for using reclaimed water for irrigation, planting Zoysia rather than traditional St. Augustine grass and plants which are all on the approved Florida-Friendly Landscaping list, making good use of its preserved areas and great education efforts.
“We have worked diligently toward increasing the efficiency of our homes and increasing the cost savings for homeowners while reducing the impact on the environment,” said Alan Parrow, CEO and President of Pringle Development.
Approximately 70 percent of the 950 homes in the community are on water. “This means we’re constantly aware of our obligations to be good stewards of the land and shoreline.”
