GOURMET CLUB

Wouldn’t it be nice if your evening meal was prepared by someone else and even delivered to your door? The Gourmet Club at Royal Harbor has developed a plan where residents can enjoy the benefits of ordering a meal and having it arrive at their doorstep any weekday.

Barbara Riley, a resident in Royal Harbor, has made arrangements with “Emiliannas To Go” in nearby Tavares to do just that. Residents can view the daily menu on the internet (www. Emiliannas.com) and order their choices by noon on any weekday. Mrs. Riley volunteers to pick up the meals and deliver them to your home. If there are more than 8 meals ordered on a specific day, they will make the resident deliveries.

LOW MAINTENANCE PLANTS
(A resident’s experience with flowering plants)

When I arrived on the “shores” of Central Florida and became a new homeowner, I had no idea as to what plants could be added to the gardens around the house. In addition, I wanted plants that required very little maintenance, but which provided the red, blue and yellows that stand out in a sea of green.

One of the most common plants is the hibiscus, a plant that flowers all year long and comes in many colors. There is so much variety, that each variation in color has a specific name, such as Rum Runner, Dancing Fire, Kirk’s Purple, Eye of the Storm, Fifth Dimension, etc. In my garden, I have several different plants that produce red, orange, yellow or pink flowers. These plants grow very rapidly and, when they become too tall, you can trim them almost to the ground. After a couple of weeks, new leaves begin to form as the plant produces new growth.
