Eating Out is Always a Blast at Legacy
Tuesday June 24th we went to Lakeside Inn in
Mt. Dora. 35 of our great residents enjoyed a wonderful dinner and time
of fellowship.
Prime Rib, Georgia Chicken and Grouper were
the Early Bird special. Many remarked how wonderful the food was. The
Lakeside Inn is always a nice getaway due to the great candle light
setting and you can take a walk down to the lake from the restaurant and
enjoy the sites.

Senior Center Staff and Volunteers Join Hands To Reach Out To Those In
Need
There is no better way to spend one’s free
time than to use that time helping others who are in need. This includes
bringing a meal to a shut-in, lifting the spirits of someone who is
depressed, helping someone who needs assistance filling out insurance
forms, driving someone to the doctor’s office for an appointment, or
providing opportunities for seniors to get together socially.

Major League Fun & Fitness
There
are many ways of keeping the body in shape, such as daily walks, using
exercise equipment, swimming, riding a bike or joining an aerobic
exercise group.
For
many of the residents in Royal Highlands, however, their preferred form
of exercise is getting out on the community’s diamond and playing
softball. It’s an activity that “gets the blood going” and it’s a great
opportunity for fellow residents to get together as a group and have a
lot of fun.

Homemade Dishes Are Served With a Side of Serenity at This Lakeside
Restaurant...
Nestled among the giant cypress trees, along the shores of Lake
Panasoffkee, is a delightful buffet-style restaurant called Harbor
Lights.
Lake Panasoffkee, a small town in nearby Sumter County, had its
beginnings around 1840, when it was inhabited, in part, by Seminole
Indians. In the native language, the lake’s name loosely translated
means “deep valley”. The lake itself is about nine miles long and
occupies about 4500 acres. For those of you who enjoy “wetting a line”
on occasion, we have also been told that the bass fishing on Lake
Panasoffkee is very good.

Swing
Your Partner Round and Round
When Art Penland became the square dance partner of Betty Gatchell over
seven years ago, they never expected their partnership to last as long
as it has.
Art first moved to Highland Lakes from Myrtle Beach about 12 years ago
with his wife, Gloria. Before that, he lived in Chester, PA, where he
was employed by the Scott Paper Company for 34 years. After enjoying
several years of retirement in Highland Lakes, Gloria passed away in
1994.
