Legacy Residents
Clem and Sharon McCann |
Sharon McCann has a love of animals, so much so that she and her
husband, Clem, have five cats and a 14-year old cocker spaniel that have
been rescued from a variety of situations. This "family of eight" share
their beautiful Lancaster model home in Legacy of Leesburg. Sharon's
interest in animals extends within the gated community, where she chairs
the Critters Sitters Vacation Club. The club looks after members' pets
while they are away.
Sharon was born in Sleepy Hollow, New York, and moved to Florida in
1968. That same year, Clem, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, moved to
Sleepy Hollow. They met when Sharon returned for a visit in 1994. As a
married couple, Clem & Sharon lived in Ft. Lauderdale for a few years
before buying their home in Legacy .
When Clem lived in New York, he was a stonemason/bricklayer for about 33
years, as well as a landlord for an apartment house. While living in
Florida, Sharon was a singer in a group that entertained mostly in
restaurants for about 15 years. She also served as a Service Coordinator
in an older senior citizens retirement community for several years.
Three of the McCann's children live in Florida, and two live in New
York. They have ten grandchildren.
Living in Legacy gives Clem the opportunity to play golf at nearby
courses at least once a week, and he enjoys fishing in the many nearby
lakes. Sharon enjoys the theatre
and reading fiction and historical
novels. Both are members of the Eagles, a charitable organization. They
occasionally use their 30-foot travel trailer for taking camping trips.
Seven years ago, Clem began building a vacation home in Ocala, which he
completed in 2000. They became familiar with Central Florida while
making trips between Ocala and Ft. Lauderdale. Sharon's mom lived in
Scottish Highlands, so they were aware of Pringle's excellent
reputation. When they visited one of the Legacy model homes, they
decided to buy it. Clem was very impressed by the quality of
construction in a Pringle home, based on his years of experience. "We
found that the residents in all of the Pringle communities were very
friendly, and here in Legacy we feel like the neighbors are one big
happy family," said Sharon.
