"What's for dinner?" Sound familiar? I think most of us have heard that
question over the years.
A new eating place in Leesburg may help answer that very question. The
International Super Buffet has been open for about a year and has been a
welcomed addition to the neighborhood. This large, brightly lit
restaurant seats more than 300 people. There is also a private banquet
room which accommodates over 100 people and it may be used by large
groups at no extra cost. Nine large buffet tables feature over 300 items
and a special "Mongolian Bar," where a chef prepares your choice of
items to your liking. Everything appeared very fresh, and all of the
items were labeled and neatly presented. There is also a menu with
individually priced items if one does not care to partake of the buffet.
I began my meal with hot and sour soup, and my spouse couldn't resist
the peel and eat shrimp. There were several soups from which to choose,
including Italian Wedding soup. We decided on Chinese food, but there is
a good selection of seafood, chicken, beef and pork prepared in various
ways. The buffet has two separate salad bars with fresh fruits and
vegetables, vegetarian dishes, health food selections, and two large
dessert tables.
As we perused the buffet, we noticed pizza, Italian bread, deviled eggs,
mashed potatoes, French fries, roast beef and ham. There is a sushi bar
as well as an open grill. On weekend evenings, fresh oysters, BBQ ribs
and crab legs are available. The ethnic varieties of food under one roof
are unique for the area and include Chinese, Italian, Korean and
Japanese cuisine.
Hot tea is provided free with meals and soft drinks are $1.09 with
unlimited refills. The restaurant has a children's menu for those up to
nine years of age and even has a soft ice cream machine as a sweet way
to end the meal for anyone.
Take-out orders are also available. Customers fill their take-out
containers themselves at the buffet, and then are charged by the pound
as they leave.
The restaurant is open daily for lunch from 11 AM to 3:30 PM and the
price currently is $5.99 Mon.-Sat. Sunday costs an additional $1.00.
Dinner hours are from 3:30 PM to 10 PM; the buffet costs $8.99
Mon.-Thurs., $9.99 on Fri.-Sun. On special holidays such as Christmas,
New Year's Eve or Mother's Day, dinner is served all day. Seniors over
60 are offered a 10% discount. The restaurant does not offer alcoholic
beverages at this time.
Since the restaurant is located in the Wal-Mart shopping plaza on
Highway 27 in northern Leesburg, there is plenty of parking space
available. Take-out orders can be prepared ahead of time if diners call
ahead at (352) 326-9888.
