Rod and Sonie Ross have been making daily visits to Legacy of Leesburg. They are presently renting a home in another Pringle community, anxiously awaiting their new home in Legacy to be completed before the end of the year.
Rod was born in Burlington, Vermont, and spent most of his adult life pursuing a teaching career in Math and Science and then school administration with positions as Assistant Principal and Principal within the Vermont school system before retiring. After retiring, he worked in the Philippines as an Educational Consultant to the school Superintendent and returned to Huntington, VT to teach and direct theatre.
Sonie was born in Mandaue in the Philippines and it was there that she married Rod. She held a number of Sales and Accounting positions for several firms in both the Philippines and in Vermont.
Rod enjoys daily walks and sharpening up his gardening skills. He is still President of the Winooski, VT Community Theatre, and is working towards establishing a theatre group in Legacy, as well as encouraging theatre opportunities in the local schools. Sonie enjoys cooking, knitting, reading fiction and walking. They also enjoy cruises, and have visited several distant ports...Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bermuda.
Rod and Sonie explored the U.S. West Coast before deciding on settling in Florida. They felt that the climate in Florida was closer to what they were used to in the Philippines, and that the East Coast was closer to family members. An ad in the AARP magazine, along with information on the Internet, introduced them to Pringle and Legacy of Leesburg. They were attracted to Legacy’s nature trails throughout the community, the closeness to shopping, and the style of homes being built in Legacy. In addition, Rod indicated that “our sales person, as well as the design and décor consultants, were outstanding and were really nice people”.
Both Ron and Marva provide volunteer services at the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando, in the choir and as facilitators for new members.
