Sandra Mair Brandt, a Royal Harbor resident, keeping in shape while
having fun is very important, she loves tennis and participates in it
almost every day!
Sandra came to Central Florida from Medford, New Jersey, last year,
although she was born in Michigan. She was a resident of Florida years
ago, when she worked for radio station WLOF in Orlando for about two
years and then ran a newspaper delivery service for 13 years. While in
New Jersey, Sandra worked at the Burlington County Times for an
additional 13 years before moving to Royal Harbor.
She is the mother of three children - Chuck, a Design Engineer in New
Jersey; Christen, Executive Assistant of a chemical firm in Georgia; and
Jimmie, who works for a water supply company in Tampa. Sandra is the
grandmother of two children.
Sandra has received several tennis competition awards, including the
Ronald McDonald Game Day. She represented New Jersey in the Disney
Senior Olympics, and recently played in the Senior Olympics mixed
doubles at The Villages. Sandra can be found playing tennis wherever
there are courts, such as the Eustis Senior Center, Royal Highlands, and
Royal Harbor.
Sandra was instrumental in forming the Royal Harbor Singles Group and
helped to organize their monthly dinner socials. She also participates
with the singles' groups from five Pringle communities who get together
for a potluck dinner every three months.
Sandra's interest in tennis and daily walks keep her physically fit, and
her love of crossword puzzles keeps her mentally fit. She enjoys meeting
other residents for a daily game of poker, pinochle, or hand-and-foot,
and occasionally can be seen on the Yacht Club's monthly boating trips.
She is also an active member of the New York-New Jersey Club.
Sandra desired to move south after tiring of the "non-tennis" days of
winter. She obtained information on adult communities throughout
Florida, and decided that she did not want to live on either coast
because of the crowds. Her research showed that Pringle Development was
and still is one of the foremost builders in the state, and that Pringle
had an excellent reputation as a builder. The ability to custom-design a
home was a big selling point for her, and she felt that Central Florida
was the perfect place in which to settle.
Sandra built a Diamond model home, adding a number of rooms to
accommodate her brother, who visits frequently, and other family
members. "I've made a lot of friends in the community; there is lots to
do here for both singles and couples, and I couldn't be happier," said
Sandra.
