Mount Dora's Art Car Show

There are many forms of art that express the feelings of the artist, such as painting, sculpturing, crafts, or music.

However, a different kind of art was displayed at the third Annual Mount Dora Art Car Show that took place during the weekend of Aug. 18-20. Participants used their imaginations to decorate their cars with a variety of themes, and they were displayed during the show.

The festivities began on Friday evening with a “wild and zany” art car wedding at the Lakeside Inn. Two local artists that met at a previous car show were married, and their wedding and reception were open to all visitors. They drove around the area in their Driftwoodie, a 1987 station-wagon covered in sea glass, beach sand and driftwood.

Those Who've Come Before You...

Art and Sandy Bone

When Sandy Bone of Royal Harbor arrives home from work, she never has to worry about what’s for dinner. Her husband Art, and her mother-in-law Marie Becker, who lives with them, are excellent cooks and share the chef’s hat responsibilities.

Sandy and Art (Sandy’s first boyfriend) were born in St. Louis, MO, and they were friends for many years, having met in the 8th grade. When they married, they lived in both Birmingham, Alabama and Florida before they finally settled in their Carlisle model home in Royal Harbor.

Café Attuare Restaurant

There are many excellent restaurants that cater to the Mount Dora visitors. Café Attuare is one of those very cozy “hideaway” places tucked away on the second floor of 301 Baker Street, not far from the main avenue.

The restaurant has only about a dozen tables, yet it offers a sizeable menu. The large windows, colorful Italian décor make it a comfortable spot for an excellent meal and quiet conversation.

Activity Corner - Legacy of Leesburg

There are many exciting events and activities coming up this fall for Legacy of Leesburg residents. For starters, the Second Annual 50’s Dance, with live music by “The Shades”, will begin the schedule followed by a Halloween costume party and a community yard sale in November.

Bocce, Bingo, Chess, Gardening, Mah Jongg, Yoga, Tennis, Softball and Water Aerobics are a few of the weekly events on the activities schedule. Whether you just want to walk a nature trail and take in the scenery or participate in one of the activities, you will always have something to look forward to at Legacy.
