That’s a Coastal Problem!

Back to Articles

Florida is well known for its mild winters and glorious sunshine. In the last decade a few hurricanes have tried to spoil the “fun in the sun”. For some places in Florida this is true. The coastal regions have been battered with multiple intense storms. However, there is one county that continues to ride atop the Central Florida Ridge.

According to the NOAA Coastal Services Center, no major hurricane has crossed Lake County at least since the National Hurricane Center has started naming storms. That’s not to say that we have not had a few storms, but the fact that Lake County is inland helps to dissipate their intensity.

There is an additional benefit to inland Florida. Homeowner’s insurance rates are significantly less than in coastal regions. Insurance companies have vastly complex calculations to determine risk, and they always have determined that Lake County is one of the safest places in Florida.

Lake County received its name because of the abundance of beautiful lakes and streams which are replenished by the few weakened storms we receive.
