Those Who've Come Before You...Pringle Development Residents Walter & Anja Bogaerts

Back to Articles

Walter and Anja Bogaerts took full advantage of one of the benefits of building in a Pringle community — they used their own set of architectural plans to build their new home in Legacy of Leesburg. They purchased their lot, then proceeded to build the only "Bogaerts Model" home in the community.

Walter and Anja were both born and raised in Belgium. They lived in several countries before moving to Connecticut in 1977. From there, they went to Illinois, then New Jersey, and finally built their new home in Florida in 2003.

Walter is a Mechanical Engineer, who has worked in the area of Industrial Drive Systems. In Belgium, as well as Canada and the US, he was employed by Hansen Transmissions International for 20 years. While living in Illinois, he worked for the Flender Corp. as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, a position he held for 6 years. In New Jersey, he was President of Ekato Corp., a German company that develops industrial mixers for the chemical, mining, and other industries. Walter estimates that he has flown over 3 million miles during his working years. At the present time, he is a consultant and a member of the Board of Directors of Ekato.

Anja felt the need to work full time at raising their two sons and one daughter. She is now an avid quilter (she and Walter are pictured with some of her beautiful handy work). She also serves as a volunteer in the Boggy Creek program and enjoys several community activities.

The Bogaerts considered retiring in the Las Vegas area, but finally decided on Central Florida because of the climate and the cost of living, and it’s easier for their children and their overseas family to visit. They found Pringle Development online and were pleased to learn that “Pringle has been in Lake County for four generations.” said Walter. The nature trails of Legacy and some “extremely-nice people” eventually won them over.

Now that they have settled into the community, the Bogaerts enjoy activities such as pickle ball, bridge, pinochle, water aerobics, and other forms of exercise, such as Mat Pilates. Walter and Anja feel a great sense of community at Legacy, and look forward to meeting new, incoming residents from all parts of the country. They said, that after having lived in and traveled to so many different parts of the world, they are happy to belong to such a great community.
