There’s a new restaurant that opened recently just around the corner from Legacy of Leesburg. It’s actually the third location for a very popular Leesburg restaurant... the OakWood Smokehouse and Grill.
It was first established in 1998 with one restaurant located on Route 27 in Leesburg. They opened their second store in Lady Lake, and now a third near Legacy of Leesburg. All three seem to attract a good crowd for both lunch and dinner.
We visited the newest restaurant recently and enjoyed the lunch specials; sliced or chopped pork, with two sides and a beverage for $6.25.
They offer the usual fare for lunch – soups, salads, sandwiches and a variety of burgers. Diners can choose from "Double Decker Burgers" for the larger appetite, or "Light Combos" for the not-so-hungry visitors. The same menu applies to both lunch and dinner. A 12 oz. N.Y. strip Steak may be ordered for $14.95 and a shrimp platter is $10.95. There are a variety of chicken entrees, both grilled and fried, and they come with sides and garlic toast.
The restaurant offers catering, take-out and a la carte purchases as well, either by the pint, gallon, half or whole pound. Iced tea is also sold by the gallon in addition to individual glasses.
Monday through Wednesday, a whole rack of Baby Back Ribs with sides, is available for $10.95. Thursday through Saturday, they offer one-half rack of ribs or a choice of beef, pork, chicken or prime rib – depending on the evening (after 4 PM) for $8.95. Beer and wine is also available.
The Oakwood Smokehouse is a spacious restaurant, with mostly booths and some tables to accommodate larger groups. The walls are covered with a variety of large fish models and accompanying photographs, especially in the back corner of the restaurant. The parking area is very large to accommodate the high volumes of diners that stop in each day for lunch or dinner.
When you visit the Oakwood Smokehouse and Grill, you can be sure of a pleasant greeting at the door, good food, and fast service, and it is one of the many new restaurants that are coming to this area of Central Florida.
