Most of Central Florida's newest residents come to us from places that
are often described as "Frozen Tundra", or more generally as "Up North".
But for Arei and Billy McGahey, their move to Royal Harbor was almost
lateral.
Arei and Billy were both born in Alabama. They first met in grammar
school and grew up in the same neighborhood. After going their separate
ways, they met again years later, while Arei was in college. Arei became
an accountant after they were married, and Billy began a 32 year career
at the Social Security Administration. Arei also went to work for the
SSA, from which they both eventually retired. They have one daughter, an
engineer in New Orleans, and one son who is an independent shipping
agent back Birmingham.
Arei and Billy both had some building experience, so they were happy to
learn that Pringle allows newcomers to customize their floorplans.
Starting with the Hilton Head model, they were able to enlarge the main
bedroom and the guest bedroom, and they created a more "open" plan in
the main living area. Their lot is conveniently close to the Recreation
Center, which makes it easy to use the community's pool and other
amenities.
The McGaheys decided to look at retiring in Central Florida after
receiving some helpful information from Pringle Development. They
explored several communities, but really they liked the appearance of
the homes in Royal Harbor, as well as the pool, the surrounding lakes,
and other amenities.
Arei and Billy have been residents for over three years. They have two
cats, Tiger Woods and Prissy. They enjoy playing cards, bowling,
swimming, using the exercise room at the Center, and socializing with
their neighbors. Arei enjoys reading, ceramics, oil and acrylic
painting, and she serves on the Amenities Committee. Billy enjoys fine
tuning the beautiful land-scaping that surrounds their home, and they
both assist with the monthly breakfasts at the Rec Center. They also
love to socialize - getting together with neighbors to celebrate
holidays, birthdays, and not-having-to-work-days!
