Appropriately located in the western part of Lake County, in the
friendly little town of Leesburg, we found the Red House Saloon, a
western grill and bar. You won’t see the gunfighters of the old west,
but you will find a great place to enjoy a drink, and a large menu of
lunch and dinner items.
Pam and Mark Wamsley purchased the Red House Saloon in August. We
visited the Saloon for lunch recently and found it to have a very
pleasant atmosphere and the meals were very tasty. Pam said that they
have several chefs on staff and all food items are freshly prepared from
scratch.
The Red House has a menu as big as the Rio Grande! And they display it
in a full page ad in the Lake County phone book to make it easier for
folks to order take-out. They offer specials during the week such as a
marinated London Broil on Wednesdays. Thursday night is Ladies Night,
and on most weekend nights they feature a live band.
The restaurant seats 150 people and the bar offers a wide choice of
beers, wines and liquor. They also have a NFL ticket with 14 TVs
scattered throughout the dining area, and a big projection screen.
Wings, homemade soups and chili, chuck wagon specials, burgers, salads,
seafood items, steaks, ribs, chicken, sandwiches, tortilla wraps, stir
fries and a kids menu, as well as appetizers, are all included on their
reasonably priced menu. There is a Kosher Klub sandwich and Fajita Wraps
for $6.50; an 11 oz. Prime Rib for $14.95; Shrimp Scampi for $12.95;
Baked Jamaican Jerk Mahi Mahi for $13.95, and Smothered Chicken for
$9.95. Most sandwiches are priced from $6 to $7.
My spouse chose a favorite, a “French Dip”, with lots of well-cooked
roast beef. I ordered their “Fourplay Salad”. It had scoops of tuna
salad, chicken salad, and cole slaw, and a tasty pasta salad that was
hidden under a fresh blanket of greens. Both meals were delicious and
priced at only $5.95.
Soon after they took ownership, Pam and Mark started doing some
remodeling to the interior, such as adding a new coat of paint and new
flooring. Since all Florida restaurants have a smoke-free policy, they
are also hoping to add a “Smoking Patio” in the near future.
The next time you get a hankerin’ for some good vittles and a tall cold
one, you might want to round up your side-kicks and head for the Red
House Saloon.
They are conveniently located at 1350 West North Blvd (Route 441) in
Leesburg. They are open daily from 11 AM until 10 PM, and they offer
“Happy Hour” specials from 4 to 7 PM.
