Holiday Season

It is December and the cold weather is upon many of us while we are all warm here in sunny Florida. We at Pringle Development are thinking about you and hope you come to visit us during the winter months. This time of year friends and family begin to think about their loved ones and we would like to wish you all a very happy and enjoyable Holiday Season and New Year!

November Poll Results

The question was "What is the best advantage about Florida Living?" The most favored response was the mild winter weather followed by year-round outdoor activities. These 2 responses accounted for 49% of all votes. The next group started with lots of sunshine then no income or inheritance taxes followed by good housing values. This group accounted for 48% of all votes. The remainder of the votes were split between friends or family in the area or other. In summary, most people like the mild winters, outdoor activities, lots of sunshine and no income or inheritance taxes...don't we all! We hope you will choose the Florida Lifestyle with Pringle Development.

Learning About Our Environment

Workshops That Help Residents Explore The Natural Tapestry of Lake County

Water – it’s our most valuable natural resource. We drink it, we cook with it, we bathe in it, we swim in it, we water our lawns with it, and we often waste it.

Our freshwater supply, along with the plants and animals that depend on it in their natural environment, is the primary concern of the Lake County Water Authority. To better inform residents about the local environment, the Water Authority began a series of free workshops in October of this year. This series is presented in partnership with the Lake County Conservation Council, Lake Louisa State Park and Walkabout Adventures, Inc. The theme of these workshops is to explore the “Natural Tapestry of Lake County”. The course was designed to help local residents learn how to live in harmony with the county’s beautiful natural environment, from our high, rolling uplands, to our lakes, rivers and wetlands.

Royal Bookworms

Within every Pringle community, residents who share special interests or hobbies naturally tend to gravitate to one another. Neighbors soon become friends, and as the group attracts more attention they look for ways to organize their activity.

The Royal Bookworms is a good example of how a club emerges from shared interests. It was formed about a year after residents started moving into Royal Highlands. At that time, Carolyn Floor and Mary Herschel were volunteering their time to take care of the community library. Carolyn had some experience as an assistant librarian in a school in Camillus, NY, so she was familiar with cataloging books. As the community grew, and more and more books were being added, they recruited more volunteers to help them.

Those Who've Come Before You

Southern Living at it's Best

Most of Central Florida's newest residents come to us from places that are often described as "Frozen Tundra", or more generally as "Up North". But for Arei and Billy McGahey, their move to Royal Harbor was almost lateral.

Arei and Billy were both born in Alabama. They first met in grammar school and grew up in the same neighborhood. After going their separate ways, they met again years later, while Arei was in college. Arei became an accountant after they were married, and Billy began a 32 year career at the Social Security Administration. Arei also went to work for the SSA, from which they both eventually retired. They have one daughter, an engineer in New Orleans, and one son who is an independent shipping agent back Birmingham.

The Culinary Couple

A Fun Place to Rustle Up Some Good Grub!

Appropriately located in the western part of Lake County, in the friendly little town of Leesburg, we found the Red House Saloon, a western grill and bar. You won’t see the gunfighters of the old west, but you will find a great place to enjoy a drink, and a large menu of lunch and dinner items.

Pam and Mark Wamsley purchased the Red House Saloon in August. We visited the Saloon for lunch recently and found it to have a very pleasant atmosphere and the meals were very tasty. Pam said that they have several chefs on staff and all food items are freshly prepared from scratch.
